About Joan Donaldson

I am the author of four traditionally published books for young people. My latest novel, On Viney's Mountain won the 2010 Friends of American Writers Award and represented the State of Tennessee at the 2010 National Book Festival. My essays have appeared in The Christian Science Monitor, Victoria, Mary Jane's Farm and other magazines. I also write features for our local NPR station, 102.1, WMUK.
My collection of agrarian essays: Wedded to the Land, conjures the seasonal challenges and rewards of life on my organic blueberry farm, and also shows learning to live off the grid, keeping goats, and making maple syrup. When not farming or homesteading, I play an Irish folk harp, make quilts and passionately garden.
