About Neal Samors

I have been an author and publisher since 2000 and have authored, co-authored, and/or published 28 books about Chicago, its neighborhoods, downtown, iconic locations like Magnificent Mile, Millennium Park, Lake Shore Drive, Chicago River, airports, entertainment venues and decades of the '40s, '50s and '60s.  I received my BA from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1965, my MA in Political Science and Southeast Asian Studies from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb in 1967, my PhD in Educational Administration from Northwestern University in Evanston in 1979 and MALS from Northwestern University in 2000.  I worked for Educational Testing Service from 1974 to 1999 and created my publishing company, Chicago's Books Press, an imprint of Chicago's Neighborhoods, Inc. in 2003.  I live in a suburb of Chicago with my wife.  My books have won three Independent Publisher Awards as well as several awards from the Illinois Historical Society.
