About Melissa McPhail

Melissa McPhail is a classically trained pianist, violinist and composer, a Vinyasa yoga instructor, and an avid fantasy reader. A long-time student of philosophy, she is passionate about the fantasy genre because of its inherent philosophical explorations. Melissa loves sailing, skiing and discussing books and philosophynot necessarily in that order.

Cephrael’s Hand, the first novel in Melissa’s fantasy series A Pattern of Shadow & Light was a ForeWord Book of the Year Fantasy finalist and won Best SF/F and Best Fiction in the 2010 Written Arts Awards Competition.

The Dagger of Adendigaeth, the second novel in Melissa’s series won ForeWord Book of the Years Bronze Medal for Fantasy. Paths of Alir, the third book in her series won the IndieFab Silver Medal for Fantasy Book of the Year.

Melissa lives in the Pacific Northwest of the United States with her husband, twin daughters and four very large cats.
