About James Tugend

James Tugend has had scores of articles published by magazines as diverse as the Writers’ Guild of America West’s Newsletter and Journal, Writers Digest   and martial arts magazines. His original screenplays and teleplays have been optioned for purchase numerous times. His teleplay THE FOUR-SIDED TRIANGLE was produced on the Tales From The Crypt HBO series. He taught writing for the Writers’ Guild Of America, West’s Open Door Program, designed to teach screenwriting to minorities, and for East/West Players, an Asian-American theater group. He wrote and directed short films SOUL MATES, and THE CARETAKER, which won Gold Special Jury Awards at Filmfest Houston. SOUL MATES played numerous times on Showtime and internationally. He has co-produced or associate produced twenty TV films, and directed for theater. He worked as a technical writer for several companies, most notably IBM. Tugend received a B.A. from Pomona College, attended Boston University’s School for Directing, is a member of the Writers Guild of America, West and a former member of PEN.
