About Donna B Gawell

Donna Gawell is an author, genealogist, and historian. "In the Shadow of Salem" is the story of the real Mehitabel Braybrooke. It is a historical novel set during the Salem Witchcraft Trials and is based on Mehitabel's numerous court and town records.

"War in the Wilderness" is Donna's recently completed historical novel set in Camp Heidelager, the largest SS training camp outside of Germany. The story is about six real people who suffered under the Nazis in a wilderness area in Poland during WWII.

Donna also writes non-fiction: Travel Back to Your Polish Roots, Travel Back to Your Roots, The ABCs of Crime and Punishment in Puritan New England, and Poland Under Nazi Rule: 1939-1941. She has authored several professional journal articles and has a website filled with history and travel advice.
