About Donna Drew Sawyer

Donna Drew Sawyer is the author of Provenance, (Creative Cache, October 2015). Before writing Provenance,  she spent more than three decades advancing the creativity of others. First as a Madison Avenue advertising executive, then as a public relations manager for Big Bird, Elmo and the gang onSesame Street. Sawyer then followed her passion for the arts becoming a senior administrator for national arts organizations including founding director of the L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center where she helped to launch the Virginia Waterfront Arts Festival. She was a director of the Chrysler Museum of Art, the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, the Arts and Science Council and the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.

A native New Yorker, Sawyer earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the New York Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from Texas Southern University. She and her husband—a university professor and an author—have two grown daughters of which they are immensely proud. They live happily in an empty nest near Washington, D.C.

Provenance is Sawyer’s first novel. Her second novel, Promise, continues the story of Lance Henry Withers and is scheduled for publication in 2017.
