About Jack Cohen

Jack S. Cohen was born in London, England, in 1938 and became a US citizen in 1973 and an Israeli citizen in 1996. He received a BSc degree from London University in 1961 and a PhD in Chemistry from Cambridge University in 1964. He worked at the NIH, Bethesda MD (1969-90), and in 1990 was appointed Professor at Georgetown Medical School, Washington DC. He was the Co-chair of the Biochemistry program at the National Science Foundation, 1994-96. In 1996 he made aliyah and became Chief Scientist at the Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer Hospital, and since 2001 has been Visiting Professor at the Pharmacology Department, Hebrew University, Jerusalem. He retired in 2008 and among his current pursuits are painting and writing. In 2009 he published his auto-biographical novel “Amanuensis.”
