1. Where can I go for help?

We have user guides here: Getting Started with BookWorks

2. Can BookWorks publish my book?

No, we are not a publisher, distributor or agent. We are an association for the self-publishing community.

3. Can BookWorks help me publish my book?

Though not directly, a BookWorks membership can help you get there.  We are committed to giving indie authors access to the knowledge, tools and support they need to make their book the best it can be. You will learn how to Prepare, Publish and Promote your book from our experts, and from the experiences of your fellow writers.

4. Can BookWorks help me promote my book(s)?

Sure! Simply taking an active part in our community is a terrific way to showcase your book and connect with potential readers.  We have a whole section in our Resources Directory devoted to service providers and websites that can help you promote your book, from PR firms, to Social Media Consultants to Book Review Services.

5. Can I sell my book through BookWorks?

Those wishing to purchase titles listed in our BookShop can to click on the retail option(s) that you select, which will direct them to an online retailer, such as Amazon, Barnes and Noble or an independent bookseller, where they may buy your book. We do not sell directly from the BookWorks site, but it is a great place to showcase your titles.

6. I’m looking for an editor, cover artist, web designer, etc.

Check our Resources Directory, conveniently arranged by categories.  You’ll find plenty of great options there.

7. How do I get access to BookWorks’ resources?

Sign up as a BookWorks Core member for access to our Resources Directory and all of the great articles, current and archived, from our blog.  For enhanced features and valuable discounts on publishing services, you’ll want to take advantage of our Premium membership package.

8. I posted my book title to my profile page and I don’t see it in the BookShop?

Did you include an ISBN or AISN number?  A cover image? You must also insert a url link to the page where your book is available to be purchased on Amazon, Barnes & Noble or another online retailer.  Only titles that include all three will be automatically added to the BookShop.

9. How/where can I engage with BW on social media?

You can connect with BookWorks on Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin.

10. How do I become a Featured Author or Book of the Week?

We select both Featured Authors and our Book of the Week from among noteworthy members based on the information they share about themselves and their work, so it’s very important that your author and title profiles are complete.  We look for works of merit that are well-written, professionally edited and favorably reviewed, by both seasoned and new authors. We expect to see ISBN and/or AISN, detailed book description, author bio and a compelling cover design, such as would be found on Amazon for any traditionally published title. Your title listing should include both a high-res cover and author photo since they will be featured on our homepage, Community page, BookShop and social media.

To allow us a look at the work itself, we also request that you upload a pdf excerpt of up to 100 pages for our "Look Inside" preview. We recommend it include front matter, 1st chapter, additional chapter excerpts, illustration samples (if applicable) and back cover, as a capsule peek at the overall book.

11. Does BookWorks write book reviews or accept submissions for reviews?

No, we do not offer reviews, but you can find Book Review Services in our Resources Directory and our Premium Members receive a discount on book reviews from Kirkus and IndieReader.

12. Do the Service Providers listed in the Resources Directory pay to be included?

Absolutely not. We research and compile our curated Resources to offer a wide range of legitimate, professional, freelancers and service businesses. Investigate the best options from small to large, regional to international, across all genres, to match your book’s budget and goals.

13. Do you accept guest blog posts and/or do your writers ever guest blog on other blogs?
