We have helpful User Guides, Getting Started with BookWorks, with step-by-step instructions that usually answer most questions. You may also post a question in the BookWorks Support forum in our new Discussion Groups.
No, we are not a publisher, distributor or agent. We are an online association for the self-publishing community.
Though not directly, a BookWorks membership can help you get there. We are committed to giving indie authors access to the knowledge, tools, and support they need to make their book the best it can be. You will learn how to Prepare, Publish and Promote your book from our Team of Industry Experts, and from the experiences of your fellow members by engaging directly through our social channels (activity feed, friends & groups) and/or participating in our new Discussion Groups exchange.
Sure! We offer tons of marketing and promotional help, advice, how-to's and tips from some of the top experts in publishing in our twice-weekly blog. There is a wealth of information archived there under that topic to help you master your book marketing. You will also want to check out the professionals in our Book Service Providers directory. You can search and find everything from PR firms to Social Media Consultants to Book Review Services. And don't overlook our Classifieds to see what is on offer there.
Those wishing to purchase titles listed in our BookShop can click on the retail links that you select. This will direct them to an online retailer such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, an independent bookseller, or your own website where they may buy your book.
Sign up as a BookWorks Core member for access to all our Author Resources. For enhanced features and valuable discounts on publishing services, you’ll want to take advantage of our Premium membership package.
Did you include an ISBN or AISN number? A cover image? You must also insert a url link to the page where your book is available to be purchased on Amazon, Barnes & Noble or another online retailer. Only titles that include all three will be automatically added to the BookShop. You can get more detailed information on adding titles to your profile here in our User Guides which you can find under the HELP tab.
You can connect with BookWorks on Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin. BookWorks members also enjoy many of the same features as your favorite social platforms including Friends, Groups, an Author Network activity feed and our interactive Discussion Group forums.
We select both Featured Authors and our Book of the Week from among noteworthy members based on the information they share about themselves and their work. So it’s very important that your author and title profiles are complete. We look for works of merit that are well-written, professionally edited and favorably reviewed, by both seasoned and new authors. We expect to see ISBN and/or AISN, detailed book description, author bio and a compelling cover design, such as would be found on Amazon for any traditionally published title. Your title listing should include both a high-res cover and author photo since they will be featured prominently on our homepage, Author Network, BookShop and social media.
To allow us a look at the work itself, we also request that you upload a pdf excerpt of up to 100 pages for our "Look Inside" preview. We recommend it include front matter, 1st chapter, additional chapter excerpts, illustration samples (if applicable) and back cover, as a capsule peek at the overall book.
We do not offer reviews, but you can find Book Review Services in our Book Service Provider member directory. Just use the Search by Type drop down menu. Our Premium Members receive a discount on book reviews from Kirkus and IndieReader.
We are always interested in sharing great content. If you have a topic you’d like to submit or are interested in having BookWorks contribute to your blog or website, contact us. BookWorks authors are encouraged to share their experiences in self-publishing in our new Notes from the Field series, so send us your ideas at firstname.lastname@example.org.
