A YA Dystopian Thriller (The Resistance Series Book Four)

Fugitive Resistance fighter Tommy Bailey has come out of hiding to help rescue Careen Catecher from the clutches of the Office of Civilian Safety and Defense, where she’s being held and interrogated for information about the rebel group. The OCSD is poised to launch the Cerberean Link, a security device that will put all minors under constant surveillance under the guise of protecting them.

Convinced that activating the Link will result in irreversible and total control of the population, the Resistance puts its own plan in motion to sabotage the Link and oust the OCSD’s wolfish director. Just when everything seems leveraged in their favor, treachery, lies, and long-held secrets threaten to derail it all.

Just as I expected, Tracy Lawson ended the Resistance Series on a high note with Revolt, book 4 in the series. She did a great job of tying up all the loose ends without taking away from the excitement of this last installment. Lawson's tightly written narrative and spot-on dialogue make for a fast-paced, easy-to-read novel. Her characters are easy to relate to, and I found myself rooting for Tommy and Careen to the very end.

While this is a satisfying end to the series, the best part of it is how real the scenario could be, given our current state of affairs. And that, to me, is what sets this book and series above many other works of YA dystopian fiction. Hats off to the author for a job well done! I look forward to whatever comes next from this up-and-coming author.
