Project Management is, in many ways, like flying a kite.
How do you design and construct it so that it’s lifted high and strong by the wind? What do you do when it gets snagged in a tree, lands on the roof of a house, or is tangled on electrical wire? How do you retrieve it while keeping it intact?
Similar elements come into play when executing a project. Successful delivery may be affected by obstacles such as erroneous engineering, defective equipment, late arrival of materials, personnel turnover, among others. While prior planning does indeed help, it takes a skilled pilot to build, fly, rescue, and bring down the kite safely throughout the course of its journey, just like it takes a skilled Project Manager to successfully deliver his (her) project.
Like flying a kite, effective project management requires technique, experience and skill to finish the project on good terms. With a combination of practical wisdom borne of decades of experience in international engineering and project management, Why Is It That My Kite Won’t Fly? offers a wealth of research and results-based suggestions for optimizing your approach to project management in a wide variety of sectors.

Welcome my dear fellow word-sleuths. This puzzle book is your chance to have a little fun with the serious words of the healthcare world. Here I have assembled many medical specialties, and topics of interest to all healthcare practitioners and students, into one book and tried to have fun with them.
Each puzzle contains phrases, terms of art, and common words, that are essential to each topic. Some of the words are common to the healthcare profession in general, and some are very specific to the healthcare specialty represented in each puzzle. Some contain phrases that have been condensed down to their familiar letters, such as “cardio-pulmonary resuscitation,” which is commonly referred to as “CPR.” Also, I like to use a felt-tip highlighter-pen when doing this type of puzzle. This keeps the puzzle neat, clean, & easy to read. Word-search puzzles are a simple and quick way to enjoy a few minutes away from you studies and work – so have fun.

Joe and I have been teaching this course to healthcare professionals and students since 1984. We know what works and what doesn’t when it comes to helping our students be successful. We had to develop almost all of the study materials for our students by ourselves because very little existed at the time. The Zombie Notes Study Charts were some of the first study aids we developed to help our students learn a large amount of information very quickly. We know that this format works very well because hundreds of thousands of healthcare professionals and students, in hospitals and colleges all over the world, have used this handy, no-nonsense chart to help them successfully pass the ACLS certification exams.

It is essential that you know this information by heart and can recall it at a moment’s notice. This information is not only essential for the exam, but for your career, and the survival of your patients, as well.
We have also included the actual course outline that we use in our certification course. We give you our outline here so that you can get a better understanding of what a typical ACLS certification course will involve. It will give you a general idea of what to expect in the course.
You’ll find that the key to passing the certification exam and course lies in applying your knowledge through questions and answers, not rote memory alone. Memorization is simply the first step to learning and committing the information to your long-term memory.
