Publisher Rocket Makes Selling Books on Amazon Way Easier

Self-publishers wear a lot of hats. There’s the writing hat of course, but also the editing hat, the design and formatting hats, the marketing hat, and the list goes on. That last one—marketing—is where many indie authors get stuck. They know how to write a great book, but they aren’t sure how to get it in front of their ideal readers. That’s why, a few years ago, I developed Publisher Rocket (formerly called KDP Rocket). It’s a simple-to-use software that makes it easier for authors to sell books on Amazon.

And today I want to show you 4 ways Rocket can help you market your book more effectively.

1. Choosing Keywords That Attract Readers

As you surely know, Amazon makes even the largest brick and mortar bookstores look teeny tiny.

If you go to Amazon and search for something kind of obscure (let’s take Mexican cookbooks for instance), you’ll find over 1,000 results. Imagine 1,000 different Mexican cookbooks in a physical bookstore...how many aisles would that take?

Anyway, here’s the point. No matter how creative your book idea, chances are you’re going to have lots of competition on Amazon. The good news is, with smart keywords, you can rise above the clutter.

Here’s how it works. When readers go to Amazon to find a new book, they type words or phrases into the search bar. These phrases are called Kindle Keywords and Search Phrases.Publisher Rocket Makes Selling Books on Amazon Easier by Dave Chesson for BookWorks.com

As an author, when you’re selecting the keywords you want to associate with your book, your goal is to find searches that are getting regular traffic and leading to sales but aren’t too competitive.

Striking this balance can easily make the difference between regular sales and total obscurity.

Just type your topic into Rocket’s keyword search tool, and it will give you an entire list of potential keywords to choose from, along with data about how competitive and effective these keywords are.

This gives you a huge advantage in selecting just the right keywords and being one of the books that show up when a reader searches “YA sci-fi novel,” or what have you.

2. Becoming an Amazon Bestseller

Amazon sorts its massive collection of books into categories.

And here’s why that’s important:

Amazon bestseller status is category-specific. So, by simply putting your book in strategic categories, you can dramatically increase your odds of becoming a bestseller. This, in turn, can lead to even more book sales—not to mention some fun bragging rights.Publisher Rocket Makes Selling Books on Amazon Easier by Dave Chesson for BookWorks.com

Most people think you can only put your book in 3 Amazon categories. But, if you know the technique I teach, you can actually put books in up to 10 categories.

The trick is knowing which categories make the most sense for your book and give you the best chance of earning that coveted Amazon bestseller status.

Rocket to the rescue.

Inside this software that I’ve built, all of Amazon’s categories are available for you to research, along with data to help you locate the categories that can draw attention and sales for your book.

3. Boost Your Book Sales with AMS Advertisements

Many of the most successful self-publishers I know take advantage of AMS ads. These Amazon advertisements allow you to pay for exposure when people search for certain keywords or for similar books.

For many authors, it’s a smart way to level up book sales.

Now, I do want to make a caveat. Because of the learning curve and the cost involved, AMS is an advanced strategy that you should research before trying. It’s not as easy as set-it-and-forget-it. It requires monitoring and adjustment.

AMS Ads keywords search

For those of you looking for more info, I’ve actually created a free course on Thinkific about this subject. You can access the free course right here.

But if you do decide to give it a try, Publisher Rocket makes it much easier to get quality ads up and running. Similar to publishing your book on Amazon, you need to select keywords to place your advertisements in the right spot at the right time for maximum books sales and the lowest ad cost.

The thing is this though…AMS Keywords often follow a different strategy than Kindle keywords. That’s why Rocket has a specialized AMS Ads keyword search, to help you find smart keywords faster.

4. Deciding on Your Next Book Idea

Let’s say you’re like most authors—full of great ideas and always debating which book to write next.

Rocket can help you decide based on some actual data.

Comp search feature

The competition search feature allows you to see how books are performing based on their topics.

For example, you might find that children’s books about feelings aren’t selling very well, but children’s books about pirates are.

This can inform your writing decisions as you deliberate on your next book idea.

Is Publisher Rocket the Missing Piece in Your Book Marketing?

So that’s a little about my author software Publisher Rocket and how it can help you level up your book marketing efforts on Amazon.

I designed it because I know self-publishers wear so many hats, and I wanted to make it easier for them to actually sell the books they work so hard writing.

If you’re ready to take your book marketing to the next level, consider giving Publisher Rocket a try. Thousands of authors, big and small, are using it right now. You’ll find lots of rave reviews online.

Because at the end of the day, my driving motivation is simply this:

I believe great books deserve attention, and the world is a better place when we read them.

Cheers!
