We've been busy putting the finishing touches on the dynamic new BookWorks site, our most ambitious remodel to date. As promised, we'll be introducing you to the new features here and in upcoming posts. We invite you to try them out and let us know what you think.
Since fostering a supportive community is part of our core mission, we have added new ways to connect with your fellow members via our new Discussion Group page.
These four forums will provide a place to seek and receive BookWorks site support, discuss the self-publishing topics of your choice, announce your new and upcoming projects, and request and give feedback on works in progress. Here's a brief rundown on how they work...
Discussion Group 1 - BookWorks Support
Have a question about using the BookWorks site? Or maybe you've run into some difficulty and need assistance. We're happy to help so ask away. The BookWorks Team and your fellow members will likely have the answer, and your question or concern is one that may help someone else. We also welcome your feedback so we can continue to grow BookWorks to suit your needs.
Discussion Group 2 - Publishing Your Book
The learning curve for self-publishers is steep and tips and insights from other indie authors or self-publishing professionals can help smooth the way. Open up your own topic for discussion. Use this roundtable forum to ask for advice, share your hard-won knowledge (or mistakes), weigh in on debates or merely be a fly on the wall to glean what you will. And it's open to the entire BookWorks community, including our Service Provider members. We encourage you to check in and share your expertise and knowledge on relevant topics and let our authors get to know you. Let's make this a lively and helpful exchange.
Discussion Group 3 - Up & Coming Member Projects
Of course, we had to provide a bulletin board for all your important announcements. We want to know what you've got in the hopper. Have you begun the sequel to your last novel? Deciding on the best title? Do you have a book about to launch? Maybe you just secured a two-book deal and agent to shop your screenplays...like Michael Phillip Cash just shared this week. We revel in your successes and want to stay abreast of what our authors are up to, so share your news here and on the Author Network feed, so we can all cheer you on.
Discussion Group 4 - Works in Progress/Writers Workshop
Welcome to your virtual writing workshop. Perhaps some of you have already benefited from being in a circle of writers who offered peer support. Writing can be a lonely endeavor and feedback invaluable to help authors hone their manuscript. Post an excerpt or section you are unsure of. Let the community know specifically what kind of help you're looking for. Authors, be generous with your constructive critiques and return the favor when you receive it. Editors, beta readers, coaches, your advice is especially appreciated and joining in a discussion is a great way to meet and connect with authors who may be able to use your services.
Are you excited yet? We hope so. The Discussion Group feature was created because of your feedback and suggestions, so keep them coming. BookWorks is yours to use and shape, so get to it! And if you aren't already a member, now is the perfect time to join us.
